All Saints Graveyard Maintenance
We have a small group of volunteers who tend the graveyard on a Tuesday morning. This year, they have had to contend with the wettest spring and early summer which we have had in a very long time which meant that getting lawn mowers and strimmer on to control the grass in April and early May was next to impossible.  We had to make a decision as to which sections we could cut with our limited resources. We are in the process of cutting down the main section at the back and hope to complete that in the next month. We will turn our attention to cutting the East side of the path after that. In the meantime, we are more than happy to strim around graves and create access when families tell us. The care of the graveyard is done by volunteers who are all nearly in their late 70’s or early 80’s. To pay for people to come and maintain the graveyard regularly would be extremely expensive (at least £10k) and we are not in  a position to pay for that. We are always looking for new volunteers to help, if you are in a position to do so, you are more than welcome to come on Tuesday mornings.

We are also very conscious of the need to support wildlife and plant wildflowers because of the nationally recognised catastrophic decline of our insect population which is at the base of the food chain for many birds and animals. Hence we have sown wildflower seed in various places. Where the grass is currently high, we are very happy to meet with families to discuss individual needs and strim as appropriate.
